- Investments enable larger, eco-friendly ships and create new job opportunities.
Infrastructure improvements at the Liverpool terminal have optimized space usage and streamlined cargo movements. A new gate setup and an upgraded terminal operating system are set to enhance the customer experience for cargo drop-offs and pickups, according to CLdN.
Expanding Capacity for Sustainable Growth
The latest investments, including a widened RoRo linkspan, are integral to CLdN’s plans to expand capacity on the Liverpool-Dublin route. Enhancements to the quayside will allow the terminal to accommodate larger, environmentally friendly vessels. CLdN currently operates 17 return sailings weekly, connecting Great Britain and Ireland while also facilitating transshipment from Spain.
Job Creation and Industry Collaboration
The expansion has led to new career opportunities at the terminal, with CLdN partnering with a local college to establish technical apprenticeships, fostering the next generation of skilled workers.
Strategic Investment in UK Port Infrastructure
Florent Maes, Chief Executive Officer of CLdN, stated, “This upgrade to our Liverpool terminal is part of a wave of major investments in our UK port infrastructure. The investment will provide tangible benefits to customers, create opportunities for skilled jobs in Liverpool and further reduce the carbon intensity of our operations by allowing larger ships to be deployed on the Liverpool-Dublin route.”
