A new footage of a Costa cruise ship posted online shows how extremely close it came to breaking free from its mooring ropes.

What happened?

The video which was posted by a person named Christopher Feuerer, shows the Costa neoRomantica being caught in some strong winds.

As a result, the aft of the vessel was pushed away from the dock and the mooring lines could have snapped at any moment.

Fortunately, the ship’s crew were able to take control of the situation and no guest was injured in the incident since most of the guests were in port exploring or on shore excursions.

It was also good that nobody was next to the ropes as it can be very dangerous if they broke.

The cruise ship, Costa neoRomantica  was making a port of call at Mahe Island, Seychelles when the weather conditions at the time turned bad. The 56,770 gross ton vessel is currently based out of Mauritius and sails 14-day itineraries. The ship can carry over 1,500 guests at double occupancy and is the oldest in the company’s fleet.

From this video, we can see how strong those mooring lines actually are and the importance of keeping the ship safely docked.
