The CMA CGM Group remains deeply concerned about the attacks on commercial vessels unfolding in the Red Sea Region. Over the past few days, we have taken preventive measures to ensure the safety of our crews and our vessels navigating these waters, says an article published on cma cgm website.

Escalating Tensions In The Red Sea

The CMA CGM Group has expressed grave concerns regarding the recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea region. These developments have prompted the group to take immediate action to safeguard its crew and fleet.

Rerouting Measures For Enhanced Safety

In a proactive response to the heightened risks, CMA CGM has invoked clause 10 of its bill of lading. This measure involves rerouting several of its vessels that are currently en route to various destinations, including the U.S., North Europe, Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent. These ships will now navigate via the Cape of Good Hope, located at the southern extremity of Africa, as a safer alternative.

Halting Operations In High-Risk Zones

As a further precaution, CMA CGM has directed all other containerships in the vicinity that were scheduled to transit through the Red Sea to halt and move to safe areas. These ships will remain stationary until the company deems it safe to resume their journeys.

Ongoing Commitment To Safety And Security

CMA CGM’s decisive actions underscore its commitment to ensuring the safety of its crew and vessels amidst the evolving security challenges in the Red Sea. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates are expected as the circumstances develop.
