CMA CGM has signed a declaration with the Port of Koper to create a joint venture focused on automotive logistics, reports Offshore Energy.
The new entity will operate as a limited liability company responsible for equipping, maintaining, and managing a 27,000-square-meter site dedicated to vehicle logistics. This partnership builds on more than two decades of cooperation between the companies.
The signing took place on October 20 during the visit of CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé to the Port of Koper, alongside Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit formed part of broader efforts to reinforce the Franco-Slovenian strategic partnership and advance the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
CMA CGM, which has operated in Slovenia for over 20 years and employs 102 people locally, runs two direct maritime services through Koper: the Phoenician Express linking Asia and the Mediterranean, and the Bora Med service operating within the Mediterranean basin. The company uses LNG- and methanol-powered vessels of up to 15,000 TEUs and supports rail connections to major Central European markets.
