CMA CGM, a leading French container shipping company, has taken delivery of its first dual-fuel methanol-powered container ship, the CMA CGM Iron.
CMA CGM’s commitment to sustainable shipping
Built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea, the 13,000 TEU capacity vessel is capable of running on both methanol and conventional marine fuels.
The CMA CGM Iron made its first port call at the Port of Singapore on March 4, 2025, and will be deployed on the Asia to Middle East route. It is the first of a series of 12 similar vessels scheduled for delivery by 2026. This milestone represents CMA CGM’s commitment to sustainable shipping, as the global methanol-fueled fleet is set to expand rapidly in the coming years.
