China Merchants Bank (CMB) Financial Leasing has ordered four bulk carriers each at SUMEC and Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering, reports Seatrade Maritime News.

About the deal

China Merchants Bank Financial Leasing has entered into shipbuilding contract with SUMEC and New Dayang Shipbuilding for the construction of four 63,000dwt CROWN63 plus bulk carriers, which is an upgrading version of New Dayang Shipbuilding’s classic brand of CROWN series.

Since from last year, SUMIC has inked over 20 vessel contracts for CROWN63 plus.

Meanwhile, the financial leasing company signed four 82,000 dwt bulk carrier orders with Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering, which are scheduled for delivered from 2024.

Apart from being counter-productive, sanctions also cause confusion, he said. Bankers and financiers make matter worse by being stricter than the regulations themselves.
