CMB.TECH Signs Strategic Agreement with Beihai Shipbuilding

On 23rd September, Beihai Shipbuilding signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CMB.TECH. The general manager of Beihai Shipbuilding Luo Le and Alexander Saveris, the CEO of CMB.TECH, signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides, reports iMarine.

Focus on Green Shipping Technologies

Under this cooperation, the parties will make use of their respective strengths to expand their partnership in terms of depth and breadth.

They will focus on launching green fuel vessels and jointly researching and developing low-carbon and zero-emission technologies. Through this collaboration, the parties shall contribute significantly to the establishment of a new international green shipping ecosystem.

Specifications of the New Vessels

The two newly named bulk carriers, “MINERAL EIRE” and “MINERAL HELLAS,” boast very impressive specifications, such as an overall length of 300.00 meters, a beam of 50.00 meters, a design draft of 16.10 meters, and a cruising speed of 14.0 knots.

Both of the vessels abide by Phase III of the Energy Efficiency Design Index, (EEDI), which attests to their devotion to environmental standards.

CMB.TECH: Beihai Shipbuilding’s Largest Customer

CMB.TECH has been the largest purchaser of Beihai Shipbuilding since July 2021. The company will order 28 bulkers with 210,000 DWT capacity and 5 VLCCs from the shipbuilding company.

From what has been delivered so far, 7 x 210,000 DWT bulkers have been delivered with great appreciation by the shipowners to date on quality and overall operation performance.

Naming of “MINERAL EIRE” and “MINERAL HELLAS”

On the same day when the strategic agreement was signed, Beihai Shipbuilding formally named the two 210,000 DWT bulkers built for CMB.TECH.

These vessels “MINERAL EIRE” and “MINERAL HELLAS” represent a solid partnership shared between both companies as a commitment to innovation.
