China Merchants Industry enters in a technological partnership with Italian Classification Society RINA and China Classification Society (CCS) to develop new bunker fuels, reports Manifold Times.

Technical cooperation framework agreement
China Merchants Industry Holdings Co Ltd (CMI) signed a technical cooperation framework agreement for the development of hydrogen and ammonia as marine fuel with Italian Classification Society RINA and China Classification Society (CCS) at its Shanghai office.

Paolo Moretti, CEO of RINA and Sun Feng,CCS vice president took part in the ceremony via conference call.
Demand oriented production
“Looking at the trajectory of energy development, hydrogen will be the focus of future energy development,” said Wu.
“CMI will focus on being market demand oriented to produce high quality, environmentally safe, and economically viable maritime equipment to push China’s marine equipment and cruise ship manufacturing industry to become an industrial force”.
Alternative marine fuel researches
“Rina’s R&D center has conducted many in-depth studies for the application of hydrogen as bunker fuel and that knowledge will be shared through this cooperation,” said Moretti.
“CCS’s continuous research into the application of hydrogen and ammonia as marine fuel will benefit all three parties through this partnership to develop new marine technology,” added Sun Feng.
