Master of container ship LADY NURAY tragically died on board his ship on 18 Dec 2019, reports Maritime Bulletin.
What happened?
47-year old Turkish Master of Panama flagged container ship LADY NURAY tragically died on board his ship after an accident during the afternoon hours of Dec 18.
The ship was docked at Thessaloníki, Greece, for cargo operations, when the master fell into cargo hold. He got his head seriously injured, during the 2.5 metre fall.
Investigation triggered
He was announced dead on arrival to hospital. The death of the ship’s Captain led to the suspension of operations onboard the vessel.
The Port Authority of Thessaloniki has opened an investigation into the nature of the incident.
