On May 21, container vessel HEINRICH SCHEPERS briefly ran aground off St.Petersburg, Russia. The incident happened on Morskoy Canal fairway when the vessel was leaving St.Petersburg.
The vessel reportedly developed some navigational issues due to unknown reasons but was refloated back to safety assisted by tug boats within an hour. Later the container ship was immediately taken back to port for inspection and fixing any potential problems that had arisen out of the grounding incident.
Later in the same day the vessel reportedly departed from St.Petersburg in the evening on its voyage to Bremerhaven. At 1200 UTC May 22 the vessel was spotted in Hanko, Finland.
There were no damages to ship or environment reported.
