Container Ship Went Out of Control in Kiel Canal

On December 7, a containership reportedly lost control while entering the Kiel Canal and sustained damages.

What happened?

The container ship ‘Jork Ruler’ reportedly lost control while it was entering the went out of control while entering new southern lock at Brunsbuettel, Kiel Canal.

The vessel made contact with the lock’s wall by the forecastle bulwark and the vessel’s stern also made contact with the opposite wall.

Vessel damaged:

During the accident, the lock wall and the vessel sustained minor damages and after further inspection, the vessel was permitted to transit the Canal in eastern direction to proceed towards its destination to Helsinki.
