Containership in Trouble Again!

The container ship MOL CHARISMA is troubled again and is under tow, reports Fleetmon.

Engine failure

The 8100-TEU container ship MOL CHARISMA was disabled after engine failure on Dec 11 in Gulf of Siam, while en route from Singapore to Laem Chabang, Thailand, with ETA Dec 12, EC5 Loop.

After several hours drift, the ship was emergency anchored in Gulf of Siam on Dec 12, understood later tug was contracted, to tow MOL CHARISMA back to Singapore.

Towage commenced on Dec 17, as of Dec 19 it was still under way, see track screen. According to tracks, MOL CHARISMA is under tow of offshore tug BRIDGEWATER 130.

Previous grounding

Earlier this year, in July, MOL CHARISMA experienced rather strange grounding in South China sea; in year 2020 she suffered fire in cargo hold off Sri Lanka, and had to interrupt her voyage from Port Klang to Mumbai.
