Coronavirus scare has forced workers to refuse handling containership from Shenzhen China, reports Erofey Schkvarkin for Maritime Bulletin.

About the issue

Out of virus scare, Cargo Handling Corporation Ltd. (CHCL), workers refused to handle container ship GH LEVANT that arrived from Shenzhen China at Port Louis, Mauritius. 

The ship is with some 300 containers to be offloaded, and 400 to be loaded. 

CHCL is the sole container terminal handling company at Port Louis. So, the issue has to be dealt with and solved somehow.

Crew health

Health Authorities have confirmed the crew as healthy and not dangerous for public health. Still not convinced with that the workers refuse to board the ship. 

About the ship

GH LEVANT berthed late Mar 9, she left Shenzhen on Feb 24.
