COSCO SHIPPING has strengthened its commitment to sustainable shipping with the addition of the COSCO SHIPPING Panama, a methanol dual-fuel container vessel. The ship, officially named at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry’s No. 1 yard in Qidong, is the second in the company’s fleet equipped with this low-emission technology.
At 356 meters long and 51 meters wide, the vessel can carry up to 18,136 TEU and features an 11,000 cubic meter methanol storage tank. Built with marine boilers and dual-fuel generator sets, it is designed to operate on both methanol and conventional fuels depending on operational needs. This launch underscores COSCO SHIPPING’s ongoing investment in alternative fuels and cleaner energy solutions, signalling a clear step forward in the development of green container shipping.
