COSCO SHIPPING Ports (CSP), one of the world’s leading port and terminal operators, has reported robust throughput growth in May 2025, handling 9.8 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), a 3.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase. The performance highlights CSP’s growing resilience and strategic expansion across global markets.
Strong Overseas Terminal Performance
CSP’s overseas terminals were key contributors to this positive trend, recording a 10% YoY increase in throughput. Among them, CSP Zeebrugge in Belgium emerged as a standout performer, achieving a remarkable 138.9% YoY growth. CSP Piraeus, another important node in the company’s international network, maintained a steady pace with a 5.6% YoY increase.
Terminals in China’s Southwest and Yangtze River Delta regions also performed well, supporting CSP’s domestic growth momentum.
Year-to-Date Performance
In the first five months of 2025, CSP’s total throughput reached 46.6 million TEUs, marking a 6.2% YoY rise. The company’s China-based terminals saw a 5.5% increase, while overseas terminals outpaced with a robust 8.1% YoY growth.
A Balanced Global Portfolio
This data reflects CSP’s ongoing success in diversifying its global portfolio and investing in operational efficiencies. As trade patterns continue to evolve, CSP’s strategic focus on both domestic and international terminals positions it well for sustained growth throughout 2025.
