Recently, COSCO SHIPPING revealed a groundbreaking achievement in maritime innovation with the introduction of the world’s inaugural 10,000-DWT pure electric container ships. Crafted at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Yangzhou, these vessels mark a significant leap in eco-friendly shipping technology.
COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 01″ and “COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 02
Inviting Gu Cuihong and Jing Tao to christen the ships, the two “sister ships” were officially named “COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 01” and “COSCO SHIPPING LV SHUI 02.” The ceremony included a champagne celebration, symbolizing the dawn of a new era in sustainable maritime transportation.
Eco-Efficiency on the Yangtze River
Measuring 119.8 meters in total length and boasting a moulded beam of 23.6 meters, these vessels are the world’s first 10,000-DWT electric container ships for river-sea operations and claim the title of the largest pure electric container ship globally. As they navigate the Yangtze River, they stand as environmentally conscious giants, capable of annually reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,918 tons—equivalent to the emissions of 2,035 family cars or the environmental impact of planting 160,000 trees.
