Cracked Containership Leaks Fuel Oil

YM container ship fuel tank crack, writes Nikolay Torkin in Maritime Bulletin.

On 28th September, an oil sheen was spotted alongside container ship YM MANDATE, berthed at Bayonne Container Terminal, New Jersey.

What did investigation reveal?

CG carried out an investigation and found, that fuel oil was seeping from bunker tank crack. A barge was deployed to siphon fuel from the damaged tank on 30 September. 

The tank is to be repaired after all fuel is pumped out. As of morning on 1st October, the ship remained in the same position.
