The arm of the shore crane collapsed and the whole facility fell over the containership injuring the crane operator.
The shore crane was unloading the containers when the arm of the crane subsided and fell over the container ship. The crane operator fell from 20-meters height and sustained serious injuries. A medical team and ambulance were sent to the scene to evacuate the injured man.
Also, the containership suffered damages and no injuries were reported to the crew of the ship. The vessel will resume its voyage after clearing the repairs and inspection for seaworthiness.
The investigations are underway to find out the exact cause of the incident. The port operations will also be inspected to know if all the safety regulations were followed during cargo handling operations.
