M/V Hi Ram, a Vietnamese registered ship, which was in transit from Bintulu Sarawak, Malaysia to India had bunkered in the nearby town of Pengerang. Three crew members who were working in the ship on July 12th were killed by gas fumes.
Its reported that the chief captain’s unit of Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) received a distress call from the ship and they dispatched patrol boats. The MMEA patrol boat took an hour to find the vessel, which was about four nautical miles southeast off of the coast. The MMEA authorities found three bodies on the deck and the two other crew members were found sick due to gas inhalation. All the crew members were found to be Vietnamese nationals.
