Crew Suffers Facial Injuries Onboard Cargo Ship Off Bunbury

On December 17, a merchant seaman was airlifted due to medical emergency after sustaining severe facial injuries.

What happened?

The seaman was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital and is reportedly recovering from a severe facial injuries after being winched to safety off the coast of Bunbury.

The RAC rescue helicopter was called in by a cargo vessel ‘MV Shah’ off the coast to attend to the medical emergency.

Seaman injured:

It is not clear on how the seaman was injured but was safely lifted from the anchored Liberian registered bulk carrier.

He was airlifted to Jandakot where he was transferred to a St John Ambulance ans was reportedly suffering a severe gash to his face and he is currently receiving treatment from the Royal Perth Hospital.
