Crowley, a global leader in logistics, marine, and energy services, has announced the launch of its first direct ocean route between the U.S. Northeast and Central America. The new route leverages the company’s LNG-powered Avance Class vessels, offering unmatched speed, reliability, and environmental efficiency in cargo shipping.

Fast Five-Day Service Enhances Trade Connectivity

The new non-stop, five-day service connects Gloucester Marine Terminal in Philadelphia with key ports in Guatemala and Honduras, and also serves markets in El Salvador and Nicaragua. The maiden voyage by Crowley’s Copán container ship will begin on July 3, departing Central America and arriving at Gloucester City, New Jersey. Terminal operations will be managed by Gloucester Terminals LLC, a Holt Logistics Corp. affiliate.

Reinier van Delden, VP of Commercial Operations at Crowley Logistics, emphasized:

“This best-in-class service will deliver the fastest transit times in the market, helping customers reduce inventory idle time, lower logistics costs, and extend product shelf life. The strong demand we’re seeing already confirms the value of this expansion.”

LNG Vessels Reflect Sustainability and Innovation

Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), Crowley’s Avance Class ships demonstrate a commitment to both innovation and environmental stewardship. These vessels offer reduced emissions while maintaining high performance, supporting greener global supply chains.

Christian Holt, representing Gloucester and Holt, said:

“This new route strengthens Philadelphia’s role as a marine logistics hub and opens faster trade channels for local businesses. We’re proud to collaborate with Crowley—another long-standing family-owned company—to drive economic impact and job creation in the Philadelphia-South Jersey region.”

Building on Decades of Experience

This service complements Crowley’s longstanding presence in the Northeast Atlantic, where the company has operated routes to Puerto Rico, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Virgin Islands for over 70 years. The new Central America service marks a strategic extension of its regional logistics footprint.
