China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSSC) Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, in partnership with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), has signed a contract with Ningbo Ocean Shipping for the construction of four 2,700 TEU container vessels.

Strengthening Regional Shipping Capabilities

As Zhejiang Province’s largest container liner shipping company, Ningbo Ocean Shipping operates across international liner routes, China’s coastal network, and the Changjiang River. The new 2,700 TEU vessels, measuring 185.99 meters in length and 35.20 meters in beam, are custom-built to serve short-sea routes across Southeast Asia and other nearby regions.

Green and Intelligent Ship Design

The vessels are equipped with advanced technologies such as SCR denitrification systems, high-voltage shore power connectivity, and smart ship systems, aligning with global sustainability goals. These systems enhance energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and enable intelligent management of ship operations. Delivery of the vessels will begin in late 2027.

Deepening a Longstanding Partnership

The agreement marks another milestone in the partnership between Ningbo Ocean Shipping and Huangpu Wenchong, which began in 2014. The shipbuilder noted that Ningbo’s continued trust underscores the company’s technical expertise and service excellence.

With the addition of these eco-efficient 2,700 TEU container ships, Ningbo Ocean Shipping aims to further optimize its fleet composition, enhance competitiveness in the short-sea market, and advance its vision of becoming Asia’s leading regional logistics service provider.
