Cybersecurity Breach Hits DP World Australia

223

Recently, DP World Australia one of the main entities operating in Australia’s ports, suffered a three-day cyberattack. Discovered in the November, it brings into focus how insecure Australia’s critical infrastructure is. Such a breach occurs within an unprecedented level of attacks against corporate entities and residential units in the country that are reportedly happening every six minutes according to a recent report by the government.

Employee Data Compromised

This was a cyber incident that did not use any ransomware to gain access to files with personal information on past and present DP World Australia employees. Despite affecting container terminals at crucial Australian port locations such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle, the incident did not compromise customer information. The company quickly went offline and severed connection to the internet as a measure to arrest the breach, highlighting the importance of beef security awareness considering the evolving nature of threats.
