- Damen Shipyards Group and Folla Maritime have officially launched their new joint venture, Damen Folla, during the Aqua Nor exhibition in Trondheim.
- The partnership combines Damen’s global scale and steel vessel expertise with Folla Maritime’s experience in aluminium workboats, expanding offerings across the aquaculture value chain.
- Their first joint project, the hybrid AQSV 2813, is designed for versatile offshore and aquaculture operations, featuring advanced DP capability, strong bollard pull, and sustainable design.
Damen Shipyards Group and Folla Maritime have unveiled their joint venture shipyard under the name Damen Folla at the Aqua Nor exhibition in Trondheim. The move represents the next phase of their collaboration, following Damen’s acquisition of a majority stake in Folla Maritime earlier this year.
Folla Maritime brings decades of experience in aluminium workboat construction, while Damen contributes a global network, offshore know-how, and proven capabilities in building large steel vessels. Together, Damen Folla aims to deliver sustainable, high-quality vessel solutions tailored to both nearshore and offshore aquaculture operations.
“Damen Folla represents a new joint force for sustainable aquaculture solutions. With this joint venture, we unite local know-how with global scale,” said Jeroen van den Berg, Damen Product Director for Aquaculture and Fishing.
First Project: AQSV 2813
As a first outcome of their cooperation, Damen Folla introduced the Aquaculture Service Vessel (AQSV) 2813. This compact yet powerful hybrid workboat (2–3 MWh) combines a 160 m² deck with three large cranes, offering versatility for tasks such as net handling, anchor installation, ROV deployment, transport, and towing.

Dynamic positioning (DP) capability
Bollard pull of 280 kN
Silent, crew-friendly accommodation for long-duration operations
The AQSV 2813 is designed as a future-proof, sustainable service platform, with its official launch set to follow shortly.
Track Record and Industry Impact
Damen has previously supplied advanced aquaculture vessels such as the Volt Processor and the LUV 2510 series, which are active in Norway and the UK respectively. Folla Maritime has also delivered hybrid and electric-powered aluminium vessels to operators including Nova Sea and Vega Sjøfarm.
With the launch of Damen Folla, both companies aim to strengthen their role in delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to meet the evolving needs of the aquaculture sector.
