In an unfortunate turn of events, a 39 year old woman has died due a domestic dispute onboard a cruise ship.
What happened?
The victim, 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares was found dead onboard the cruise ship ‘Emerald Princess’, another passenger has been detained by the crew members and has been handed over to the FBI officials.
Death confirmed to be ‘suspicious’:
Spokesperson for Princess Cruises has confirmed that the domestic dispute occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and resulted in the woman’s death which has been classified as ‘suspicious’.
The ship which docked unscheduled in Juneau also has Federal Bureau of Investigation officials headed to Alaska’s capital, according to Staci Feger-Pellessier of the FBI Anchorage division.
Passengers were were allowed to disembark at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after authorities lifted and hours-long lockdown, passengers said.
Passengers said the captain had previously instructed passengers in decks 8, 9 and 10 on the port side to return to their cabins so they could be interviewed by investigators about the incident. Other passengers were able to move about the ship, but not disembark.
The cruise ship Emerald Princess was on a seven-day round-trip cruise that departed Seattle on July 23. A scheduled scenic cruise for Wednesday was cancelled due to the unfortunate incident.

Much details is not available about the victim, except that she belongs to Utah. The FBI officials are investigating others onboard the ship to determine the cause of the death. The ship is currently docked in Juneau until it gets a green signal from the FBI.
