- The initial partners of the initiative are Bugaboo, Cocoasource, DHL Global Forwarding, Dille & Kamille, Dopper, Geelen Counterflow, Lenzing, Loods5, Lush, Matsen Chemie, Nine & Co, Regent Ingredients, Samskip, Sipsmith, Tony’s Chocolonely, YOGI Tea, Yumeko and Zaytoun.
- Translating these pledges into climate impact, GoodShipping has completed the first bio-bunkering of the container ship Samskip Innovator, during which fossil fuels were replaced by 100% sustainable biofuels.
- “We applaud the leadership of the partners who are working together to contribute to a better world for us all.”
Sustainable cargo initiative GoodShipping has unveiled a new partnership with 18 companies that will substantially reduce emissions from shipping as reported by Offshore Energy.
‘Ship to Zero’
The Ship to Zero effort brings together organisations from a variety of countries and industries, including food production, consumer goods, chemicals, textiles, machinery, and logistics, all of which are united in their desire to have a direct and immediate impact on the environment.
Bugaboo, Cocoasource, DHL Global Forwarding, Dille & Kamille, Dopper, Geelen Counterflow, Lenzing, Loods5, Lush, Matsen Chemie, Nine & Co, Regent Ingredients, Samskip, Sipsmith, Tony’s Chocolonely, YOGI Tea, Yumeko, and Zaytoun is the initiative’s original partners.
The campaign’s goal is to show that having a real impact on the environment is already achievable today and to set an example for all policymakers in Glasgow.
Each partner has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the transportation of their goods or services.
In order to put these vows into action, GoodShipping accomplished the first bio-bunkering of the container ship Samskip Innovator, in which fossil fuels were completely replaced with 100% renewable biofuels.
Voyage on biofuels
Biofuels will be used for a total of four or five voyages from Rotterdam to Hull (UK), resulting in a CO2 reduction of roughly 4,000 tonnes.
The refuelling was done in collaboration with GoodFuels, whose biofuels have a well-to-exhaust CO2 reduction of 80-90% and are made from certified renewable feedstocks.
Used cooking oil and waste animal fats, for example, are labelled as 100% trash or residues that can’t be used for any higher-quality use or recycling.
We salute the visionary leadership of the partners who are working together to make the world a better place for all of us.
Fortunately, solutions are already available, and our carbon offsetting solution is a good, simple, and cost-effective option for forward-thinking cargo owners to cut emissions from their supply chains.
“We’re honoured to be a part of GoodShipping’s Ship to Zero expedition to make a positive influence on the environment today!”
