Denmark, alongside four other European nations, signed the Aalborg Declaration, emphasizing the significance of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) for climate action, reports Danish shipping.

Market CCUS

The declaration marks a crucial step towards establishing a European market for CCUS, amplifying the importance of these technologies. The European Commission convened a conference in Aalborg, uniting 400 industry leaders in CCUS, with Denmark seizing the opportunity to present the declaration.

Danish Projects

Two prominent Danish CCS projects, Project Norne, and Project Bifrost, gained recognition as Projects of Common Interest by the EU, enabling them to seek financial backing.

Jacob K. Clasen, Deputy CEO of Danish Shipping, highlighted Denmark’s rapid progress in CCS due to relentless technical efforts and business ambitions.

Collaborations

These developments align with Danish Shipping’s aspirations, aiming to position Denmark as a leading EU hub for CCS and Power-to-X technologies. Collaboration with other European nations is essential to making CO2 transport by ship a viable business area, potentially positioning Denmark as a pioneer in CCS and Power-to-X industries.
