According to an article published in Devon Live, from cruise liners to the world’s largest tanker, it appears the coast of Devon is a playground for all types of enormous ships from around the globe.
World’s largest container ship
Several ships including vehicle carrier Courageous Ace, the world’s largest container ship as well as numerous luxury cruise ships, all of which had been spotted around Devon waters.
Here we have put together a list of all of the massive ships that are currently off the Devon coast.
HMS Albion
HMS Albion is a combat vessel, currently located off the coast of Dartmouth.
The combat vessel which was built in 2003 sails under the flag of the United Kingdom. The vessel’s length is 176.06 meters and her width is 32.3 meters.
Elandra Denali
The tanker is 330m in length and 60m wide, sailing under the flag of Liberia.
Her length overall (LOA) is 330 meters and her width is 60 meters.
Carnival Valor
The Carnival Valor was spotted anchored up behind the Ore Stone rock near Torquay, with the Ocean Survey vessel HMS Scott nearby last month.
The cruise ship has a gross tonnage of 110,000 and can carry 2980 guests. It is understood that Carnival Valor has now continued in its voyage.
Opaline
The ship was built in 2010 and sails under the flag of Malta.
Its carrying capacity is 33960 Gross Tonnage and her current draught is reported to be 7 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 195.4 meters and her width is 30.5 meters.
H&S Fairness
The container ship which is currently on the coast of South Devon departed from Cork and is heading to Rotterdam, NL.
The ship was built in 2007. Her length overall (LOA) is 140.6 meters and her width is 22.02 meters.
The ARX is a container ship which departed from Dublin and is heading to Rotterdam.
The ship was built in 2005. Her length overall (LOA) is 139.81 meters and her width is 19.64 meters.
Adilia I
The large container ship, located miles off of the South Devon coast is 140.8m in length by 22.84m.
The ship that was built in 2005 sails under the flag of Portugal.
The vessel departed from Southampton and is currently heading for Liverpool.
