The transaction marks DFDS’ entry into a high-growth region and positions them strategically for the anticipated growth in the nearshoring of supply chains closer to Europe.

Revenue and Value

FRS Iberia/Maroc, with a 2023 revenue of DKK 1.0bn, has become a part of DFDS with an enterprise value multiple of 6x based on the expected EBITDA for 2024.

Strategic Focus

The acquisition aligns with DFDS’ growth-focused business plan, aiming to leverage their freight and passenger capabilities to optimize operations. Anticipated annual trade growth of 8% between Morocco and Europe over the next five years adds to the strategic value.

Integration Plan

DFDS has launched an integration plan focusing on combining capabilities, particularly in the passenger business. Synergies will be driven by digital optimization, increased online bookings, and strengthening freight activities within a pan-European network.
