Damen Marine Components (DMC) has secured contracts to deliver rudders, steering gear, and nozzles for two major newbuilding projects in India. The orders cover a total of 14 multi-purpose vessels (MPVs), which are being constructed at Udupi Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. Both projects highlight DMC’s growing presence in the Indian market, according to Damen Marine Components.

The new contracts represent DMC’s first partnerships with both Udupi Cochin Shipyard and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. At Udupi Cochin Shipyard, the company will supply piston-type steering gear and Atlantic-type rudders for eight 6,300 DWT MPVs being built for Wilson AS, with equipment produced at its Jiangyin factory in China. Meanwhile, at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai, six 7,500 DWT MPVs are being constructed for Navi Merchants, equipped with rudder systems, hydraulic steering gear, and propeller nozzles sourced from DMC’s facilities in the Netherlands and Poland. All components will meet the latest class standards, with phased deliveries scheduled to begin later this year.
