The maritime industry is evolving rapidly, facing increasing complexities in its operating environment and expanding stakeholder networks. To navigate these challenges and seize new opportunities, DNV Maritime has introduced a new leadership role—the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This strategic move is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, global coordination, and customer engagement.

A Key Appointment for Future Growth

Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria has been appointed as the first Maritime COO and will be based in Singapore. In her new role, she will focus on streamlining communication between regional teams and central functions, strengthening operational capabilities in key growth markets, and working closely with global customers.

A Wealth of Experience in Maritime Leadership

Since joining DNV in 2005, Saenz de Santa Maria has accumulated extensive expertise across the maritime sector. Her career spans ship surveying, project management, and senior leadership roles across Spain, Portugal, South Korea, Norway, Africa, and Singapore. Before assuming this new role, she served as Regional Manager for South East Asia, Pacific, and India.

Saenz de Santa Maria holds a Master of Science degree in Naval Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid.
