- This week’s composite index fell 0.4%, but it’s still 281% higher than a year ago.
- Drewry’s year-to-date composite index of the WCI is $7,191 per 40ft container, which is $4,661 higher than the five-year average of $2,530 per 40ft container.
- Drewry’s World Container Index composite index fell 0.4% to $9,865.14 per 40ft container this week but is still 281% higher than the same week in 2020. Freight rates from New York to Rotterdam increased by 3% or $35 to $1,189 per 40ft box, while rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai increased by 1% to $1,315 per 40ft box. Rates on Shanghai – New York, Rotterdam – New York, Rotterdam – Shanghai, and Shanghai – New York are, nevertheless, higher.
