Drydocks World has successfully executed a complex project involving the conversion and upgrade of two vessels for Eni’s Baleine Phase 2 project, to be deployed offshore Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa. This significant achievement underscores Drydocks World’s expertise in marine and offshore services.
Vessel Conversion and Upgrades
The project involved converting the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel Voyageur Spirit and the shuttle tanker Nordic Brasilia. The FPSO Voyageur Spirit has been renamed FPSO Petrojarl Kong and is designed to process and store offshore hydrocarbons with a 15-year lifespan without intermediate docking. The shuttle tanker, now named FSO Yamoussoukro, has been converted into a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel to provide storage and facilitate hydrocarbon transfer for seamless offshore operations.
Project Details
The FPSO Petrojarl Kong, featuring a unique circular design with a 70-meter diameter, underwent extensive production engineering, bulk procurement, major demolitions, and the installation of new modules. This complex conversion was completed in just 14 months. Meanwhile, the FSO Yamoussoukro project, completed in 11 months, involved detailed engineering, structural refurbishment, life extension (RLE), and substantial conversion and coating work of all cargo and ballast tanks.
Leadership and Collaboration
Capt. Rado Antolovic, PhD, CEO of Drydocks World, celebrated the project’s success at a naming ceremony, emphasizing the company’s commitment to innovation and quality. The ceremony was attended by key figures from Drydocks World, Altera Infrastructure, Eni, and Petroci Holding, along with officials from Côte d’Ivoire. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts and fast-tracking of these complex projects while maintaining high standards.
Commitment to Safety and Efficiency
Drydocks World deployed over 1,000 workers daily on each vessel, ensuring the highest health and safety standards. The project achieved a combined total of 8 million Lost Time Injury (LTI) free man-hours on the vessels and 10 million LTI free man-hours on the projects, showcasing the company’s dedication to worker safety, efficiency, and a productive working environment.
