Dual-Fuel Engines: Innovations And Features By Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is set to construct two new ships at its Enoura Plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture, scheduled for completion and delivery by the end of fiscal 2027.

Innovative Design and Features

The ships will measure approximately 169.9 meters in length and 30.2 meters in breadth, boasting a gross tonnage of 15,750 and capacity for around 2,300 passenger vehicles. Featuring dual-fuel engines capable of using methanol and heavy fuel oil, they incorporate advanced technology such as a windscreen at the bow and a vertical stem to reduce propulsion resistance.

MHI’s proprietary energy-saving system, combining high-efficiency propellers and rudders, enhances fuel efficiency and environmental performance.
