Company Background and Strategy

Elbdeich Reederei, headquartered in Hutsen, Germany, is a subsidiary of United Shipping Companies (USC). With a fleet of over 30 ships, the company has steadily expanded its container operations through strategic newbuild investments. Ongoing Partnership with Huangpu Wenchong

The shipowner has been actively collaborating with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding since 2023. That year, they signed a contract for two 1,250 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships, which were later chartered to the Danish Unifeeder Group. The agreement included two additional optional ships, which were exercised in early 2024.

Recent Orders and Fleet Expansion

In 2024, Elbdeich Reederei placed multiple additional orders with Huangpu Wenchong, including:

  • Two 1,300 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships
  • Two 1,900 TEU container ships
  • Two option vessels, bringing the total to six new container ships expected by 2026 and 2027
