In a statement, Enagás said Spain supplied a total of 34.5 TWh of natural gas, both through interconnections and LNG ship loading.

The loading operations complied with the European Union’s 14th package of sanctions against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, with Spain being the first EU country to define the detailed rules and procedures for the monitoring, control and authorisation of ship loadings carried out in the Spanish Gas System in order to ensure that the loaded LNG does not originate from Russia,’ Enagás said.

In 2024, the Spanish Gas System received gas from 14 different origins.

Total natural gas consumption amounted to 311.7 TWh, a decrease of 4.2% compared to the previous year, which is due to lower gas demand for power generation. Specifically, gas demand for electricity generation stood at 74.7 TWh, a 22.0% decrease.
