An Italian flagged vessel reportedly dropped anchor 30 nautical miles off Kollam due to a mechanical fault.  The crew attempted to fix the issue on their own but failed and has sought the help of onshore experts from the nearby port.

The vessel was enroute from Kuwait to Bangladesh carrying diesel, when her engine got into trouble.  The ship is currently anchored 60 nautical miles away from Kochi.

The 176 meters long vessel started off from the port of Mina Al Ahmadi in Kuwait carrying 33,000 metric tonnes of diesel for Chittagong.

All 22 crew members aboard the ship are safe and there were concerns about the diesel cargo onboard, but no damage or issues reported so far.
