‘Black Watch’ a cruise ship operated by Fred Olsen cruises was on a 13-night cruise from Dover, UK.  On 1st July, it was reported that a fire broke out in the ship’s engine room which damaged three out of seven auxiliary engines.

The ship’s crew reacted fast enough to bring the situation under control.  There were no reports of injuries to the passengers onboard.  The ship is heading towards the port of Madeira for a safety check and repair services such that the ‘Black Watch’ becomes seaworthy again.  The power was restored and the ship is underway with the power from remaining 4 power generation engines.

It was reported that there were 696 guests and 365 crew members onboard the ship during that incident.  The cruise line may compensate the guests for supporting them during tough times.
