Spliethoff has placed an order with Wuhu Shipyard Co. Ltd. for eight new multi-purpose vessels, with an option for two additional vessels. Delivery of the vessels will begin in the first quarter of 2028, reports Spliethoff.
Design and Cargo Versatility
The L-type vessels are useful for transporting various dry cargo types, such as paper products, bulk cargo, project cargo, and containers.
Spliethoff will operate these Finnish/Swedish 1A Ice-Classed vessels, capable of navigating icy waters, making them the largest in its fleet.
Vessel Specifications
The vessels will measure 203.25 meters in length, 28.25 meters in width, and have a maximum draft of 10.5 meters. They will have a capacity of 33,700 m³ and a deadweight of 28,600 mt, enhancing their cargo-carrying capabilities.
Designed with slender hull lines, these vessels are optimized for energy efficiency and prepared for future fuels. This aligns with Spliethoff’s focus on sustainable shipping solutions.
Deck and Loading Equipment
The vessels feature a large, unobstructed deck, suitable for oversized cargo.
