Second boxship order

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), a Singaporean shipowner, is rushing to order container ships in New Times Shipbuilding. This also makes New Times gain the second-order of container ships this year.

Order and Delivery

New Times Shipbuilding has entered into a shipbuilding contract with Singapore-based ship owner Eastern Pacific Shipping for the construction of 4+2 7,000 teu containerships, with a total value of $420 million.

The order for the four container ships was signed in early May of this year, with two of the vessels delivered by the end of 2023 and the other two in 2024.

The new vessel will be chartered to feeder liner company X-Press Feeders for a period of five to seven years.

EPS’s fleet

This is the first time that EPS has chosen a Chinese shipyard to order a container ship in recent years. Currently, EPS holds orders for 50 ships with an estimated 6.54 million dwt, including 24 container ships.

In May this year, EPS just ordered three 210,000 DWT LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers at New Times Shipbuilding and in October last year ordered two 208,000 DWT LNG-powered bulk carriers. There are also two 110,200 DWT product tankers in Eastern pacific shipping’s hand-held orders for construction in New Times.
