Notably, ESL Shipping, aligning with science-based targets, has expedited its initial net zero target from 2050 to 2040, showcasing a robust commitment to environmental sustainability.

ESL Shipping emphasizes its dedication to science-based targets (SBTi), collaborating with the globally recognized Science Based Targets initiative. By doing so, the company aims to assure clients and stakeholders that its plan for achieving net zero by 2040 is founded on sound, science-driven principles. The initiative empowers businesses to set ambitious emission reduction goals based on the latest climate science.

Investments and Fossil-Free Shipping Roadmap

Over the past years, ESL Shipping has invested over €100 million in fleet renewal and environmental upgrades, including ordering hybrid vessels and pioneering LNG-powered bulk carriers. The company’s roadmap towards fossil-free shipping involves continuous investment in cutting-edge ship technology capable of transitioning from fossil to non-fossil fuels. Additionally, ESL Shipping is actively partnering with the energy industry to build an industrial-scale supply of non-fossil fuels, showcasing a comprehensive approach to sustainable maritime operations.
