Euroseas Welcomes MV Tender Soul

Euroseas Ltd has received the MV Tender Soul, a new 2,800 TEU feeder containership built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. in South Korea, designed with Eco EEDI Phase 3 standards.

The vessel is reportedly equipped with a Tier III engine and other sustainability-linked features including installation of AMP (alternative maritime power).

This comes 10 months after Euroseas announced the delivery of M/V GREGOS, an Eco 2,800 TEU feeder containership from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co.

Charter Strategy For MV Tender Soul

According to Euroseas, the vessel is funded through a sale and leaseback deal with a Japanese owner and bank.

Following its delivery, MV Tender Soul began an 8 to 10-month charter at a daily fee of $17,000.

Aristides Pittas, Chairman and CEO of Euroseas, said: “We are very pleased to have taken delivery of MV Tender Soul, the third vessel from our nine-vessel newbuilding program which includes three additional 2,800 TEU and three 1,800 TEU units, all modern fuel-efficient eco-design vessels with Tier III engines.

Green Focus And Charter Optimism

“It should be noted that M/V Tender Soul and the rest of our new buildings are 40 percent more efficient than previous generation similar size non-eco ships. Thus, we look forward to the delivery of the remaining of our new buildings that will help us reduce our carbon footprint.

“At the same time, we expect that the recent recovery in charter rates would benefit our vessels that are to be chartered or re-chartered in the next several months including the next scheduled deliveries from our new building program.”

In July 2023, Euroseas announced new charters for its two 4,250 TEU containerships, the 2007-built Rena P and the 2005-built Emmanuel P.
