  • Dual-Fuel Methanol GenSets to Power New European Superyacht.
  • Delivery of 175DF-M Engines Scheduled for July 2027.
  • Strong Industry Interest in Methanol-Ready and Retrofit Vessel Concepts.

Everllence has just made a big splash by announcing its first commercial order for the 175DF-M, a cutting-edge dual-fuel methanol engine. This marks a major step forward in their journey toward carbon-neutral marine propulsion. The engine is set to power a superyacht that’s currently being built at a secretive shipyard in Europe, with plans for delivery in July 2027, reports Everllence.

Engine Package and Project Scope

This order includes two 12V175DF-M and one 16V175DF-M variable-speed generator sets, all designed for methanol-diesel-electric propulsion. Plus, the package comes with integrated methanol fuel-supply systems, showcasing Everllence’s all-in approach to sustainable marine energy.

Strong Market Interest Across Segments

Since kicking off development in 2023, the 175DF-M has generated a lot of buzz across various maritime sectors, including ferries, cruises, offshore vessels, tugs, superyachts, and government ships. Everllence has been busy working with clients on innovative methanol-capable ship designs and retrofitting existing vessels for future conversions.

Industry-Leading Performance and Reliability

Dr Alexander Knafl, Head of R&D, Four-Stroke, Everllence, said: “We are happy to announce that a leading superyacht builder has selected the 175 dual-fuel methanol engine as its latest project. The engine features very high methanol-combustion efficiency, low emissions and super-high reliability. We are furthermore proud to be able to say that this is a first order for a high-speed dual-fuel methanol engine dedicated to diesel-electric and mechanical propulsion.”

Customer Confidence in Methanol Technology

Florian Keiler, Head of High-Speed Sales, Marine Four-Stroke – Everllence, said: “The customer’s decision to order three 175DF-M variable-speed GenSets for a methanol-diesel-electric propulsion setup reflects its strong confidence in our methanol engine technology. The combination of advanced performance, future-proof design, and Everllence’s clear commitment to sustainable shipping, embodied in our mission, ‘Moving big things to Zero’, was key to this milestone. We are convinced that the 175DF-M will play a pivotal role across a wide range of marine applications powered by carbon-neutral fuels.”

Expanding the Future-Fuel Portfolio

Everllence kicked off the development of the 175DF-M engine in 2023 as part of its exciting plan to broaden its future-fuel four-stroke lineup. This new engine complements their existing two-stroke and medium-speed dual-fuel engines. The 175DF-M utilises state-of-the-art computational modelling and optimises the combustion process to achieve impressive methanol fuel shares, along with high power density and fuel efficiency.
