Everllence has secured an order for two 6G70ME-C Mk10.7 engines to power two 159,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) crude oil tankers for the Greek shipping company, Dynacom Tankers. This is a significant order because it represents the first commercial sale of the 70-bore engine model from Everllence’s newest two-stroke platform, the Mk10.7.
Engine and Vessel Details
- Engine Type: 2 *6G70ME-C Mk10.7 engines.
- This is the first G70-bore (70 cm cylinder bore) engine to be sold from the Mk10.7 platform, which Everllence launched in November 2023.
- The platform is designed for highly competitive fuel efficiency and has a versatile design that allows shipowners full retrofit-flexibility to convert the engines to dual-fuel operation (such as LNG or methanol) in the future.
- Vessel Type: 2 *159,000 dwt crude oil tankers.
- These tankers are classified as Suezmax vessels, which are the largest ships capable of transiting the Suez Canal in a laden (fully loaded) condition. A typical Suezmax is around 160,000 dwt.
- Construction: The vessels are being built at New Times Shipbuilding (NTS) in Jiangsu, China, while the engines themselves will be constructed in Korea.
Market Response and Future Strategy
Everllence’s Head of Two-Stroke Business, Bjarne Foldager, highlighted the positive market reception to the new platform, noting that 40 Mk10.7 engines were ordered in 2024 alone. The platform is currently available in bore-sizes ranging from 50- to 95-bore.
- Target Segments: Everllence anticipates the Mk10.7 platform, including this G70 engine, will appeal to newbuilding segments like Suezmax tankers, container feeders, and bulk carriers in the 180,000 to 210,000 dwt range.
- Engine Expansion: Following the success of the initial launch, the company expanded the Mk10.7 options in the current year to include 80- and 95-bore sizes and is aiming to secure orders for these larger models next.
