Exmar Orders Four New Suezmax Tankers From Daehan Shipbuilding

Exmar NV has announced a major fleet expansion with an order for four new Suezmax tankers from Daehan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., located at the Mokpo shipyard in South Korea. The company also holds an option to order four additional vessels, reinforcing its confidence in the strong market outlook for the Suezmax segment.

Vessel Specifications and Capabilities

Each of the newbuild Suezmax tankers will have a deadweight capacity of approximately 157,200 tons and will be equipped with scrubbers to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Designed for efficiency and performance, these vessels will be capable of transporting around 1 million barrels of oil per voyage, significantly enhancing Exmar’s operational flexibility and market competitiveness.

Delivery Timeline and Market Outlook

The first vessel from this new series is scheduled for delivery in Q3 2027, marking the beginning of a phased fleet expansion strategy.
