Shell, a leading LNG giant, has extended its global LNG bunkering network by conducting its inaugural operation in the port of Zeebrugge, Belgium, reports LNG Prime.
Operation Details
During this milestone operation, Shell supplied LNG to a pure car and truck carrier (PTPC) owned by Anji Shipping, a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.
The vessel, SAIC Anji Sincerity, with a capacity of 7,600 units, received LNG from the bunkering vessel Green Zeebrugge, boasting a capacity of 5,200 cm.
Collaboration
Shell collaborated with the port of Zeebrugge and Hoppe Maritime Group to execute this bunkering,
fortifying its marine LNG fueling network. This expansion now encompasses 20 locations across 12 countries globally.
Industry Advancements
Jiangnan Shipyard’s delivery of SAIC Anji Sincerity marked a significant advancement in the industry.
It is currently hailed as the world’s largest LNG-powered car carrier.
This vessel, operated by SAIC Anji Logistics transports new vehicles from prominent Chinese brands to Europe.
Previous Expansions
Before the Zeebrugge operation, Shell’s LNG bunkering network witnessed expansions in Europe.
With the addition of bunkering locations in Flushing and Antwerp.
Furthermore, the company achieved a milestone by completing its first LNG bunkering operation in the Caribbean utilizing the New Frontier 2, an 18,000-cbm bunkering vessel.
