A bulk carrier had an explosion occur in its cargo hold approximately 150 nautical miles east of North Carolina, USA. On November 27, reports are that significant damage occurred to the vessel’s No. 1 and No. 2 cargo hatches, reports Maritime Bell.

With all these in mind, the ship survived all these and continued moving; thus it went as far as Chesapeake Bay, USA, and landed there without any more troubles after the explosion.

It was a UK-registered ship with a construction year of 2011. Its size is 255.26 meters in length and 43 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 64,100.

Authorities are assessing the situation and investigating the cause of the explosion. The vessel’s operators would probably consult with relevant agencies to assess the extent of the damage and the steps that would have to be undertaken for repair and safety assessments.
