Fairplay Towage and Louis Meyer have expanded their collaboration with Damen Shipyards Group through the signing of contracts for four new tugs, reinforcing their fleet renewal and modernization efforts.
New Tug Contracts Signed
In March, Damen signed three contracts with Fairplay Towage and an additional contract with Neue Schleppdampfschiffsreederei Louis Meyer. Thanks to Damen’s practice of building vessels in series for stock, construction had already begun prior to signing, allowing for faster deliveries. Three tugs — one RSD Tug 2513 and two ASD Tugs 2312 — are set to be delivered later this year, with the second RSD Tug 2513 expected early in 2026. Louis Meyer’s ASD Tug 2312 will be placed on long-term bareboat charter with Fairplay Towage.
Commitment to Sustainable Fleet Renewal
Fairplay Towage is actively advancing its fleet renewal program, having ordered a total of fifteen Damen-built vessels over the past four years. Damen also built four tugs for Louis Meyer in the last five years. These newbuilds are equipped with modular options such as LNG propulsion, FiFi-1 firefighting capabilities, winterisation, and IMO Tier III compliance using the Damen Marine NOX Reduction System.
Delivery and Aftersales Support
The tugs will be transported to the Port of Rotterdam via heavy-lift shipment from Damen’s shipyards in China and Vietnam, ensuring a cost-effective and low-emission delivery. Post-delivery, the vessels will be supported by Damen Services Germany through its Hamburg-based Service Hub, covering operations in both Germany and Poland.
