Fincantieri, a leading global shipbuilding group, has partnered with BQ Solutions, a Qatari company focused on supporting Qatar’s military and security forces, to expand naval education and training for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces. The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during the 14th MILIPOL Qatar, a prominent homeland security and safety event, as reported by Fincantieri. This MoU lays the foundation for a collaborative, Italian-led training initiative designed to provide high-quality skills to Qatar’s naval personnel.

Enhancing Qatar’s Naval Capabilities

The partnership aims to further strengthen Qatar’s naval training infrastructure, emphasizing a comprehensive curriculum that equips personnel with crucial operational, technical, and logistical skills. This MoU builds on an earlier 2016 contract between Fincantieri and Qatar’s Armed Forces, which involved constructing seven surface vessels along with extensive crew training, in-service support, and integrated logistics support. The new agreement with BQ Solutions broadens the training spectrum, incorporating industrial and language training for a more holistic approach to personnel development.

Commitment to Strategic Growth and Partnership

Mauro Manzini, Vice President of Sales at Fincantieri’s Naval Vessels Division, highlighted the significance of this partnership as a means of strengthening Fincantieri’s contributions to Qatar’s defense sector. According to Manzini, this MoU underscores Fincantieri’s commitment to building strategic alliances that foster growth within Qatar’s naval industry. By combining Fincantieri’s shipbuilding expertise with BQ Solutions’ local knowledge, the partnership aims to deliver high-impact training that meets the evolving demands of modern defense.

Boosting Qatar’s Defense Capabilities

Abdulrahman Fakhro, CEO of BQ Solutions, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stressing its role in elevating Qatar’s defense capabilities. This alliance with Fincantieri positions BQ Solutions to offer top-tier training aligned with the latest in defense technologies and best practices, ensuring Qatar’s naval personnel are well-prepared for contemporary maritime challenges. Together, the two companies aim to support the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces with training programs that strengthen the nation’s defense infrastructure.

Progress and Future Outlook

As of now, Fincantieri has delivered six of the seven vessels outlined in the 2016 agreement, with the final delivery set for later this year. Significant portions of the training, including operational and logistics support, have already been completed, underscoring the steady advancement of both companies’ objectives. Moving forward, this partnership will continue to enhance Qatar’s naval capabilities, offering advanced skill development and establishing a robust framework for Qatar’s defense readiness.
