Fincantieri Secures Firm Order for Four New Cruise Ships for Norwegian Cruise Line

Fincantieri announced that the Letter of Intent signed with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) on April 8, 2024, has now been transformed into a firm order. This agreement includes the construction of four new cruise ships for the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) brand. The value of this agreement, which is subject to financing and typical terms and conditions, is considered highly significant, reports Fincantieri.

Largest Ships Ever Built for Norwegian Cruise Line

The new ships will have a gross tonnage of approximately 226,000 tons, making them the largest vessels ever built for NCL. The ships will be constructed at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard. The first will be delivered by 2030, followed by the rest to be delivered in 2032, 2034, and 2036. Each one will have a capacity of over 5,100 berths and can support more than 8,300 people, including crew. The design meets the highest possible standards of comfort and technology; it will even have sustainability included.

Continuous Working Relationship Between Fincantieri and Norwegian Cruise Line

Fincantieri has already delivered two ships for NCL, namely Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. In addition to that, there is Norwegian Aqua, the first unit of the Prima Plus class, which will be delivered soon. At this moment, there are three other units in the design and building process.
